Smythe Books offers restoration and binding services.

Restoration

We restore family Bibles and other old and valuable books in the quality and tradition of the past. Restoration includes any or all of the following: re-attaching boards, replacing spines, loose and torn pages and missing labels. Covers are restored or replaced so that the original character of the book is preserved. A restored book should have the appearance that it would have had if it never needed mending. Archival safe materials are used.

Binding

Whether for restoring or binding, we offer a wide range of materials and colors for the covers and endpapers; buckram, linen, bonded leather and genuine leather. Smythe Books currently collaborates with two excellent binders each having a lifetime of experience.

Clamshell Boxes

We make custom clamshell cases to house your valuable books.

What You Can EXPECT FROM SMYTHE BOOKS

First, contact us. We can give you preliminary thoughts on the phone or email as to what can be done and how much it will cost. If you are interested, you need only send the book to us. After we have seen the book we will give you proposal. If you decide to have the book restored, it will take from five to ten weeks. If you decide to wait, your book will be returned immediately.
